keyfob as simple remote for Homeseer virtualdevice

This is one of the "newby" questions which remains in my mind for several time now. Is it possible to use one of the many "keyfob's" out there as a simple remote for Homeseer? I have the RFXCOM plugin and must be able to catch the signal from such a transmitter? Right. Now my idea would be, have just with one key stroke, the house-mode set to "on" or "off". This house mode is a "virtual device" which shows if we are in or out! So this can be used for running special scenes when we are out of the house.

Any advice on this? Which cheap, small, keyfob would work? (where to buy?).
