Emulating a Ziggo Mediabox XL remote

Post by Art »

I want to use a home automation setup to wake my Ziggo Mediabox XL (a settop box produced by Samsung), as it takes over two minutes to boot from its Eco sleep mode when I switch it on using the remote control. As far as I can tell the mediabox doesn't support wake-on-LAN. The other obvious solution -a programmable universal infrared remote- won't work because the Ziggo remote uses RF. Hence my post here.

RFXcom sales suggests I try to receive RAW data from the Ziggo remote with a RFXtrx433XL. Is there anyone here who owns a RFXtrx433XL and would be willing to help out? I wouldn't mind driving over with the box and remote. Thanks a bunch!

[/i]As it turns out, the Ziggo Mediabox XL does accept a subset of commands through infrared. Any universal IR-remote that supports the Samsung SMT-G7401 PVR should work. I now use a Logitech Harmony Hub.
