Modifying PCR800

Post by mrwee »

Hi,

I need to move my PCR800, and by the looks of it, must add a better antenna. One question: Where to connect the new external antenna?, ie. Which solderpoint should the shield go to, and which should the mid lead be connected to?

Ok, just found this link http://board.homeseer.com/showthread.php?t=134230, and have found that the bottom pin is GND. But the user "nlrb" connects the antenna's GND via a 100Ohm resistor. Question is why that resistor, is it nessessary?

Think I've solved it myself. 480 views, no response :(.

Added the external antenna, soldered it directly to the two solder points (Removed the original antenna first) without resistor. Drilled a hole in the rainsensor, so the antenna could be mounted outside the plastic.

Went from no signal in RFXmgr to signal strength 5 :)
