Which sensor for the right job?

Post by vanisher »

Hi folks, i'm already surfing on the internet for a couple of hours to find the right sensor for the right job icm rfx transceiver usb (and homeseer):

What i want to 'sense'

Bathroom
temp/hygro
movement / light level

Bedrooms
temp/hygro
movement /light level

hallway
movement / light level

Toilet
Movement

outdoor
I'm not sure if i want to do this with a couple of sensors, or for example with a weather station like davis.

pond
water temperature

There are so many oregon sensors for these purposes that i'm lost.
And, price is also an issue :-)

Hi
I have OS THGR238 and THGR810. Of these, I prefer the old THGR238 since it uses AA batteries and has higher output. I also use the Conrad clones TS34C, which works very well, but has less output (similar level as THGR810). I also have invested in a bigger antenna (needed)
I have the weather station OS WMR928NX and is so far satisfied. The display looses contact with the sensors now and then, but I dont use it any more, so its not a problem for me. Davies sensors, too my knowledge, sends the information encrypted.

I can also confirm the THGR810 range isn't great. I have 1 (thick) wall between my receiver and the 810, sometimes it just doesn't receive the updates.

I'm also using the TS34C with an aditional antenna on the rfxcom unit

The sensors are lost from time to time but not to expensive. Maybe z-wave would be a better solution because my z-wave network is bigger and uses routing on almost each node but then again a z-wave node is three times more expensive
