Hello,
Last week RFXcom added the TH12 Opus TX300 / Imagintronix soil sensor to the latest firmware versions for the RFXcom USB module.
Only the usb-version supports these devices. I notice rfxcom usb starts to support more hardware then the RFXcom LAN version.
Will rfxcom keep supporting the lan version with firmware updates to add f.e. the soil sensors, or is it heading to end of life?

The LAN version is a stable product. It does not have the possibility for the user to flash new firmware!

Your product page and download page suggest otherwise....

Please read carefully!
This is the flash update of the TCP/IP or xPL firmware in the RFXLAN and has nothing to do with RF protocols!!!!

I don't agree. It's not mentioned clearly in the product description. It could mean your explanation above, but it could also be interpreted differently. It's not clear, especially because on the product page you mention that you can reflash the device to be XPL compatible. In the line below you mention again the ability to upgrade the firmware as a user. In my opinion I would mention that the flashing of firmware is only for XPL or TCP/IP change.
I think it's a disadvantage that we cannot flash the LAN version to be more compatible with more sensors. While a cheaper USB version does support that ability and therefore is more 'futureproof'. It's not the end of the world however.
I'm curious why the more expensive product cannot be upgraded by user to support more protocols?
Can the device be send to you to get a firmware update or is that not an option?

Re: Firmware upgrade RFXcom LAN to add new devices
If we ever create a new LAN version I can predict that it will have new functions that are not available in the USB version.
We have 2 options:
1 don't use new technology and keep the devices the same as the previous
2 use new technology and extend the device with new functionalities.
We have chosen for option 2.

You've chosen the best option. Option 1 is never a good idea.
Do you offer firmware upgrades being flashed by you guys?
