Heartbeat signals

Hi all,

I'm using several DS90's with my RFXTRX to receive the status of my doors.
The DS90's send a signal when the door is opened or closed, but they also send a heartbeat signal every X minutes.

When the RFXTRX misses a 'real' signal, the next heartbeat signal of a DS90 causes an action to start.
I.e. turn on the hall light if someone opens the hall door.

Is it possible to technically recognize heartbeat signals from 'real' signals?

The heart-beat packet is in fact a normal packet reporting the current state.
