DMX mixer to control RGB tubes

Post by Francisco »

Hello there, I,m new to the forum

Im building a cinemaroom with several groups of RGB Led lighting.
The RGB lighting is actualy not the problem.
Did do some tests with a Elation DMX mixer (very nice priced) in Combination with DMX to Led RGB controllers.
Some spots have a direct DMX input.
The problem is the following, when I enter the room I want to switch on the lights! But the Elation mixer is on the other side of the room. When I switch on the mixer from a distance it starts with the "all dark" default (only after you touch something on the mixer it goes to the last know situation)
not usefull
The more expencive Elation has a footswitch connection.
When you use that you can only switch everything full on or full off.
as the RGB lights R,G and B all full on you have a dirty cold white light and to much light.
So question, how to start with a default situation.

second question
I like to lower a electric screen (for the beamer) with the Elation mixer.
I think of 2 ways!
1 there are switches with a relais and DMX input, but how does this work? I put the the fader of the channel full upp to switch? or can anybody explain me how this works
2 It would be nice if I could use the smokemachine output of the mixer for the screen. Does anyone know what kind of signal comes out of the smokemachine connector?
lots of questions for the first post!
But I hope you can help me.
If you want to know anything about Leds (RGB or not)
you can ask me [:D] Im working already with leds from the 1980.
regards
Francisco
