Nice cheap, small and HA friendly LED controller

Post by Digit »

Hi,
I'm currently waiting for 10 meters of LED strip to arrive, so I started searching for a cheap LED controller.
I found this one: http://www.conrad.nl/ce/nl/product/181818/
Cheap, no accessories I don't need, others seemed to be happy with it, so I bought one.
Today the goodies arrived and I just couldn't resist firing up a serial port sniffer to see what's happening 'under the hood'...
So all about the HA friendliness can be read in my weblog post

i emailed conrad a time ago about the software, it is not open so only by reversed engineering you can adress this with other software.

Controlling the LED controller is already finished (virtually, as in in my mind) so the next thing to do is finding a simple solution to connect to the controller.
I like the idea of a cheap Ethernet module like the one lbl posted about recently, but I found another one with 2 x 5V TTL and 1 x Ethernet for $24.
I haven't really made up my mind yet actually, I thought I would need more time figuring out how the MS35 works :)

A small update on the Conrad MS-35.
I posted a follow-up on my first post with all the details on how to communicate with the MS-35, how to connect it to Ethernet and some more things you should know before you start using this MS-35 yourself.
