Control my Heating system

The thing i want to do is heat my apartment in a effective way. (stop it to heat when i'm not at home, get it to heat before i'm going home)
I have a Nefit Economy vrc 24 and not a lot of money.
What would be best for me is to connect it direct to a computer and make the computer control the Nefit.
As i'm trying to learn more about this i did not find any solution to do this directly (correct me if i'm wrong).
So i'm looking for a next best thing.
As i am a student is should me cost effective.
Who can help me with this?

Hi maarten!

If you want to use domotica it won't be cheap. There are several ways to do this but they all involve a thermostat that can be connected to a computer. To make the connection use almost always need to use a dongle to connect to the thermostat. Software has to be made (or bought €€€€). I dont know a way to connect directly to the kettle.

But i do have a suggestion. Why don't you buy a 'slimme thermostaat'? I have got one (for now ;). You can add programs to the thermostat with the computer and if the termostat sees no movent it will drop the temperature. You can choose the temperatures you like in the computer program. This is a relatively cheap solution. If you want to integrate your thermostat in for example homeseer you have to find another solution. But for stand alone (more advanced) temperature control this will do!

Good luck

Thanks for the fast reply but i don't think that will work for me.
I'm a lot in my computer room so not in the main room where the current thermostat is.
So i think i need to invest a bit more to get the manageability i'm looking for.

You can not control the Nefit hvac with opentherm
Nefit uses a own adjusted opentherm protocol
nefit still keeps this protocol closed and not helping at all, Remeha is doing much more on this front.
They only thing you can do is reading all the data from the Nefit hvac with the servicekey, but this key(adapter) is very hard to get.
If you need to buy a new hvac, dont buy a Nefit
I have a nefit too :? I control this with a IP thermostat and installed several sensors in the hvac myself.

Okay so i need to get a key adapter or an IP thermostat?
Witch IP thermostat would you advice?
Because i rent this apartment i can not get something else than the already installed Nefit.
Maybe i should still look in to getting this service key.

If it's a simple on/off thermostat, the Horstmann HRT4-ZW thermostat might be an option.
Have a look at my blog for more info: http://www.maartendamen.com/tag/thermostat/

The wired one will cost $ 545,- (€ 398,-)and the wireless one will cost $ 595,- (€ 435,-)
Maybe we will need to make a new topic. I can get an estimate if i know how many people want to join.
They can than say what the service fees will be.
There will also be customs fees.
