beginning

Post by creamers »

Hi everybody!

I'm new to home automation and want to begin exploring.

Next thing I have in mind:
Raspberry Pi + rfxcom + freedomotic

First thing would be to control my Roller Shutter (window) and some Halogen lights (spots in ceiling)
6 x Roller Shutter (what do I need? Electric shutters and micro module or shutters that already are wireless?)
3 x 3 halogeen spots in ceiling. (what modules are suggested?)

What would anyone here suggest ( or as possible) alternative? (considering price as I don't want to make it too expensive.)

Hope somebody can get me going cause there are too many possibilities for a beginner :)

Hi, one thing that comes to mind is http://www.agocontrol.com if you want a low power, easy system.
For a complete home solution, I can recommend http://www.linuxmce.org
The integration is beyond everything out there.

If you already own the shutters and they are currently electric with buttons i would replace the buttons with a micro module or duwi module

First choice would be to use Z-Wave for the control of lights and shutters

Shutter

(No shutters yet)

Lights

(I`m using al of them)

The controller

http://www.hashop.nl/Webwinkel-Product- ... ck-II.html <-- I would choose this one because it also fits an normal pc (laptop/eeepc)

(I`m using the Aeon Labs on a EEEpc)
Running HS3PRO on PC with Z-Wave / OpenTherm / Plugwise / RFXcom / MQTT / XAP400 / Logitech Media Server and Squeezelite on PI`s
