Raspberry pi
Domotiga installed in the Raspberry pi.
It is wording ok. Started a test with 1 old x10 device.
Webserver also up and running. The only thing not working yet is the iPhone connection.
This week further investigation on the iPhone connection.

Re: Raspberry pi
Iphone connection is also working.
Now is time to do some testing:
- performance, it could be that i have to overclock the raspPi to 800 MHz.
- usability

Re: Raspberry pi
Maybe spit the testing in two parts if perfomance is low:
-Domotiga Server only, No GUI
-Domotiga Server+client
Maybe the RPI is powerful enough to have the Domotiga server running only?
I like to know your conclusion on both and maybe I will buy one to to run the server only on.

Re: Raspberry pi
I have adjust the clock freq. Of the pi to 850 MHz and memory to 450.
Domotiga is running with GUI. Ok only sometimes having troubles to get the web page. After refresh webpage it shows the page again.
Not going to test Domotiga without Gui.
i am certain that the performance is beter without the Gui.

@pleaseask: How did you expand memory? I've read is was a soldered 256MB module...

Re: Raspberry pi
Clock != size.
It's possible to overclock the RPI to gain some performance.

No the frequentie of the memory is set 450 Mhz.OWK wrote:@pleaseask: How did you expand memory? I've read is was a soldered 256MB module...

Re: Raspberry pi
Yes that is possible. There is a config file in the boot folder called config.txt and you can change the clock frequency.j.hoekstra wrote:Clock != size.

But beware not over clock to 1000 Mhz.

Re: Raspberry pi
Sorry for not uderstanding well
On the RPI memory I read something about a memory split that sets the main and GPU memory. Available GPU memory is then 16MB leaving 240 for Linux

Re: Raspberry pi
I installed Domotiga last week on my Raspberry Pi and it working as a charm and these are my experiences:
I am running a client/server config and the iphone-page as a web-server, and rfxtrx433 as an transmitter/receiver.
The system is Debian “wheezy” (the august version).
the performance it rather well. Only the web-server tends to be unresponsive from time to time, but that is a know bug. The response time of my device it quite OK. I got some Klikonklikoff devices and they react within a second.
The only real bug in Debian “wheezy” was the unstable USB bus when connecting an usb-hub (using a usb-hub is highly advisable as the usb-port from Raspberry is not suitable for high-power usb-devices, but only keyboards and mouses). However a system-upgrade solved this problem.
When switching on/off my modem, the system becomes unresponsive, but after 30/40 seconds the system is getting alive again, I guess this has to do with the fact the the network interface of the raspberry pi is also connected to the usb-bus. However I didn`t experience any data lose, so I don`t think this is a real problem.
I did some tweaks on Debian “wheezy” itself:
I expanded the swapfile from 100 mb to 500 mb (your swap file should be twice your memory size)
Switched of some unnecessary services (f.e. cups and sane)
setting up a fixed ip-address (can be done in /etc/network/interface)
As I am running Domotiga at the prompt (server), I reduced the amount of RAM available for the GPU so more memory is available for the system: 32M GPU 224M CPU (sudo cp /boot/arm224_start.elf /boot/start.elf)
greets,

Re: Raspberry pi
There is now the option to overclock the rasPI without loosing your warranty!
This might help to increase performance. Check the PI website.

Re: Raspberry pi
Mmm installed the new option. The raspberry pi didn't like the performance settings. ... Stops working after 2 minutes. Switch off and on again to let it work for 2 min. again.pleaseask wrote:Thanks nico_gh2 for pointing out the "new" option of the RasPI.
Finally restored my image back to the SD card. No new option for my Raspb Pi.

Re: Raspberry pi
Raspberry Pi is a good foundation for the Domitga software.
Don't expect a high performance, but it enough for running Domotiga.
Installed RFXCOM transciever last weekend, just enable this device and go.
A little problem when using the RFXCOM commander option transciever, lighting 2.
When try to send a AC command to the KAKU device Domotiga stops and shows an errormessage.
After clicking the OK button Domotiga shutsdown.
I added this problem to the issue list of Domotiga on WWWdotDOMOTIGAdotNL
Also tested the transciever with the testsoftware from RFXCOM. There is NO hardware problem.
KAKU modules can be switched by the testsoftware.
So it seems that it is a Software issue/problem.
Driver issue ?
