Reset plugwise

Post by Reinder »

When there is no "vink" coming at the stick part, there might be a com poort problem.
FIrst make a backup within the Source
deinstall the whole Source including driver
unplugg stick
install back again and after setup (before configuration)choose NOT to start Plugwise Source
plug stick back in
Go tot Start->all program's->Plugwise Source->Backup & Restore
Restore you previous backup
Start Source again.

This will deinstall the whole Source inclusive driver. install back Source and driver and set backup back.

Hallo Reinder,

Is it enough to delete the hole software in the configuration screen? This is then including the driver?

Or must I delete more?

That's been done this afternoon. But there no difference after installing so as you discribed.

Is there another way to reset the stick of plugwise? Or is there something else?

Wim,can it be that you have installed some USB drivers that has mixed up the plugwise stick?
I had a problem after I installed my IRTrans.

Reset plugwise

Post by sebastiaan »

@Wim

I had that problem too in the beginning. i used another usb slot and it worked again so maybe ya can try that.

at my first crash i just deleted EVERYTHING from plugwise..chanced the usb slot ( i have 4 on my laptop ) slot recognised a new stick , installed it.. did a fresh install of plugwise and everything worked again.
after clicking on the configurationwizard i clicked the cross a few times ( that resets the stick ) and i got connected again.

make a backup ( if ya have any data ) and then delete also the data base. realy do a new install of everything. ( look in ya pc if the stick is there )

worked for me

Good luck let us know

Hi all,

I think you are right Antoon. After reading the article of 'Plugwise stick not found' from you, it looks like I have the same problem.
I have 2 usb sticks in my system: plugwise stick and the Aeon z-stick. Also I use IRtrans.
Aeon z-stick and IRtrans I have installed around the date I got the problem with plugwise.

Anothers usb-port using for the plugwise stick isn't a help till now.

Can I see somewhere at mine pc of this is the same problem?

Has anyone a nice solution what to do in step by step?

The Aeon z-stick is installed on com 4.
Does the plugwise stick also ask for com 4?

If you are on a Windows system, you can go to Device Manager - Ports to see your COM ports.

I did and I understand that.
But I don't see where the stick of plugwise is connected with.
Is it possible that he is connected to the same port?

If you don't see the stick, you must have some kind of driver problem.

If you see the stick, you can change the COM port under Port Settings - Advanced.

(I don't own PlugWise, so I am properly not the best help available. :-) )

@Wim
Did you already tried to run the PlugwiseConfig.exe ?
There you can see if the stick is connected.

Hallo Reinder,

I tried the plugwiseConfig.exe. But there is no difference. The is stick is still blocked.

If I use the stick in another pc with PlugwiseConfig.exe, everything is fine and the stick works again.
But I like to use the stick in the pc with the other domotica.
Must I install Windows XP again?

So it had nothing to do with the working of the stick and/or circles?

Hmmm...that is a user specific compoort problem I'm afraid. Plugwise is using the FTDI - compoort chip (http://www.ftdichip.com/Drivers/VCP.htm) maybe you can find something there (try different compoort driver?).
