iPhone interface for Plugwise

Post by Reinder »

I found a nice (free) written interface for the use of Plugwise (-webserver) in combination with a iPhone. See details below for installation.
The 'all groups' zip file will show all groups on your iPhone/touch tel, the 'Screen - "name"' zip file will show all groups on your iPhone wich start with group name wich start with 'Screen - '.

Plugwise iPhone/smartphone application - Installation help

1. Copy-Paste the files from this zip file to the folder C:\Program Files\Plugwise\Plugwise Source\www\iphone on the computer where you run your Source software.

2. Start the Source software and configure the webserver under 'Settings' -> 'Program'

3. Set the webserver Root folder to C:\Program Files\Plugwise\Plugwise Source\www (default) with TCP port 8080 (default) and Access mode anonymous (default)

4. Start the webserver by saving these settings, status should change to 'Running'

5. In a mobile phone (or browser window) that has connection to your computer, go to: http://localhost:8080/iphone/ and you will have control over the goups and appliances that you created in Source.

NB: If you would like your mobile phone to load this application, first check the IP address of the computer that is running the Source software. In stead of connecting to http://localhost:8080/iphone/ go to http://The.Ip.Address.Of.Your.Computer:8080/iphone/

iPhone interface for Plugwise

Post by Bastiaan »

Thanks for posting but your second link does not work for me.....

It only works if you copy the images from /iphone/img in /img
It looks in the root instead of the iphone/img directory

Hello Reinder,

Just had a server crash so I reinstalled everything with the new source, but now I get an error message when I try to access the iphone pages.

Do you have the same? Or do you know if anything changed in the new source regarding the webserver pages?

Thx and rgds,
Michel.

It's not working anymore (not compatible with the new Webserver in the Source).
Should be simple to change, but I can't.

There are alternative ways. You could use the RC.html or (also standard in the Source) the iphone.html wich is directly in the 'WWW' directory.
Just create groups starting with: _RC (name), and they will appear in both html's .

Good luck.

Thx Reinder, already did a bit of debugging and it seems to be in the new "Undefined" type.
Will try and fix it or change to another format.

Reinder or anybody else,

I had a problem with the WAF, so I debugged the original script and made it work as in the old setup.
Have deleted the TOP 10 appliances from the page, hardly used it anyway and it was too much hassle to debug the sorting.......

See attached.

Great!

Here at home, we have 4 newer and older iPhones, and when the interface didn't work I had to switch all
lighting "sta lampen" and the tv+settopbox by hand every evening..... On those moments you find out how much
house automation is making your life easier!!

With the iPhone interface it's only switching off 1 group, "everything off at night"

So I really had some pressure from the family for fixing this.....;-)

Guarnere,

When I have some time I will try and rewrite the webpage to a JavaScript/Ajax. That would make a static webpage without refreshing all the time.

Why would you want an App?

Iphone app for plugwise in the app store

Post by PietjeNL »

Today when i was browsing the app store like i always do and i found a app that we have waited for:
Plugwise for iphone :D
http://itunes.apple.com/nl/app/plugwise ... 93626?mt=8

U need to download a api folder and put it into your www folder to make it work.
More info can be found here:
http://myplugwise.com/iphone/

Only thing i would rather have is groups instead of rooms, but for the rest its ok.
U can get the lock (disable switching of manually) by holding down the appliance, then it wil get locked.

i know from a reliable source that an ipad version is in the make.
This same source tells me the main goal now is to build an Android version.

After the Android version the iPhone version will be updated with:
- Groups (Like the current rooms, but you will be able to switch on and off compleet rooms)
- Multiple profiles (home, office- The abbility to switch between settings in an instant)
- Week stats (stats per room on a weekly basis, you will be able to go back in history)

When these 3 options are done, there will be enough to show on the big ipad screen.

Yes, that Plugin works nice.
Thanks to the detectivework from PietjeNL. Traced on the day of publishing in the App-Store. ;-)

Hint: Copy the complete API-directory (with the 3 files) complete in the directory Program Files/Plugwise/Plugwise Source/www
So the new dir (containing 3 files) is called: Program Files/Plugwise/Plugwise Source/www/api
