Problem adding circles

Postby Sadolin » Sat Aug 06, 2011 1:46 pm

I needed to add a handfull circles to my network and came upon a complete set including stick and source sw for a good price.
First I have tried to reset the circles following the not to clear guide in the source manual. I think I managed that part.
In source I try to add four of the circles by going to add modules and type in the four Circle IDs. When I add a circle ID by pressing the green arrow source adds a "1" infront of the circle ID as described due to the fact that the only are 5 digit IDs (39033 becomes 139033 etc.).
After that they sit in the right hand window with a blue question mark and never comes online. I have waited and hour just to be sure...but nothing changes.
I have no idea how old the firmware on the used set is so I have tried both with and without the accept 2008 firmware check box checked. No change in result.

Any idea what is wrong. Could the firmware on the used circles be too old? The box contains a source cd with labeled 1.0.
The rest of my system is source 2.17 and firmware 2011-05-13.

probably a firmware thing
did you try to run them on the original USB stick, perform upgrade and them add them to your network.

I was properly a little to quick, since I reset the circle+ together with all the circles...
Now when I have installed Source on a different computer with the key from the used kit and run the configuration wizzard it finds the used stick and automatic put in the Circle+ ID in and try to link to it. But it fail after a little time.
When I the try to reset the Stick as the wizzard suggests, the Application just hangs with an hour glas until I kill it in task manager.

I think I will have to call Plugwise Monday.

Reset stick by clicking X and all other modules should solve the problem.

Had the same problem aswell, C+ was reset so also the stick had to be reset.

This is what they send me:

For modules with firmware versions 2011-07-01

Remove the Circle from the socket and plug it in again. If it takes a few seconds before it switches on (you can judge this by the clicking sound), no network has been assigned to the module and the Circle does not have to be reset.
Take the Circle from the socket and put it back. Pause for 3 seconds.
Unplug the Circle again. Wait 3 seconds.
Put the Circle back in the socket. Wait 10 seconds.
Unplug the Circle again and wait for 3 seconds before plugging it back in. The Circle has now been reset.

If you need to reset multiple Circles at the same time, it is best to plug them all into a big multiple socket box and execute the procedure for all Circles simultaneously.
[edit] For modules with firmware versions 2009-09-08 and 2010-11-01

Unplug the Circle from the power socket and plug it in again.
Repeat this two more times.

If you need to reset multiple Circles at the same time, it is best to plug them all into a big multiple socket box and execute the procedure for all Circles simultaneously.
[edit] For modules with firmware version 2008-08-26

Unplug the Circle from the power socket, plug it in again and count the number of seconds until it switches on (you can hear a click from the relay). Deduct 6 seconds. The result is the reset interval. If the result is less than 4, use 4 seconds for the reset interval.

Example: if 16 seconds pass between the moment you plug the module into the power socket and the moment the appliance switches on, the reset interval is 16 – 6 = 10 seconds.

Unplug the Circle for 3 seconds.
Plug the module into the wall socket again during the reset interval.
Repeat the above two steps two more times.
Plugging the Circle into the wall socket again.

If you need to reset multiple Circles at the same time, it is best to plug them all into a big socket box and execute the procedure for all Circles simultaneously.

I am unable to reset the stick for some reason, that Plugwise can't figure out. So now I will send it to them to figure it out.
Excelent service so far from Plugwise so I am sure they will find and fix the problem.

For updating firmware 2008 u need the source version 2.17
http://myplugwise.com/source/pwsetup_2.17.exe
U are not the only one who has "old" circles that needed updating :D

just checked my old mail what was wrong with my "second" plugwise set:

Wij zijn er achter wat er exact mis is.
De Circle+ is firmware 2008. De Stick is 2009.
Hierdoor zijn deze twee niet aan elkaar te koppelen.

Wij zijn nu intern opzoek naar een oplossing om deze Circle+ van nieuwe firmware te voorzien, of op zoek naar een Stick die nog Firmware 2008 firmware heeft, om zo alles te kunnen koppelen
