Source v2.23 crashing after restart

Post by pvgent »

Today, i did a reboot of the PC which is running Source. In programs i set the option to create a backup at startup every day.

After the backup, the Source wouldn't start, i got the 'object reference not set to an instance of an object' error. I did a restore of a previous backup with no success. When i restored a backup of a 2.22 Source backup, the Source started with the 'license' message and everything is Ok.

I also saw a difference in the backup in Source and the one in Start -> All programs -> Plugwise Source. The backup in Source doesn't close the Source, the backup/restore from Start -> All programs -> Plugwise Source closes and start Source.

If you make a backup with backup/restore from Start -> All programs -> Plugwise Source the Source will not start after the backup.
If you make a backup with backup in Source, Source keeps running Ok.
If you restore a backup made with Source v2.23, the Source will not start.

If i stop/start Source v2.23, it get the 'object reference not set to an instance of an object' error. Only remedy is Restore backup Source v2.22 backup

What's wrong, why didn't the beta testers find this bug.

I have exactly the same problem, so this must be a bug in the source software.

Yes, me too. Same problem, as described in the intro thread of source 2.23.
I sent an email to plugwise but I'm still waiting for an answer.

Still no answer from PlugWise Helpdesk.

Unfortunaly i don't have a backup of the Source v2.22 exe, thus every time i want to start Source i have to restore a backup from pre v2.23

On the PlugWise site you can only download v2.23

How many modules do you use?
Do you use the build in Webserver?
Does Source make a backup at startup?

Source doesn't see an Update.

Downloaded 20130301.5 from Plugwise site. Installed and Source started without problems, it also made a backup on startup.

To bad there is no info about what the problem was, i also haven't heard from the Plugwise Helpdesk.

I'm happy that Source (and web server) are running again, we are depending more and more on this kind of software.
