CoolDing

Post by RdP »

Hi,

Plugwise announced CoolDing, see http://www.plugwise.com/nl/coolding. As far as I can see, it is a separate product from their ZigBee based product line.

What a name BTW.....

And rather expensive. It's cheaper to buy a Logitech Harmony Hub, which can control most airco's as well as any other IR device(even the NEST, Sonos and Hue are supported by the Harmony.) And this device you can buy for less than a 100 euro.
Bart B. did this for instance.

B/R,
Rien

Rdp,

i fully agree, the harmony hubs work great especially when integrating them into homeseeer so we an fire events when not at home using your plugin.

Other option would be the remotec zwave airco controllers. They are also around 80 euros.

Regards

Bart

i still think it is a pitty ,that plugwise only concentrates on metering, they should make circles that also can dim not only off/on. now you need a plugwise circle on a dimmer to do this.

And it is time the aircondioning industry explores the 433 communication, infrared is so oldfashioned. Also the other industries should do that. An aircondioner costs a few thousend euro's , the 433 technology is not so expensive.

A big problem is the difference in frequencies used in the us and europe and china i think.

Has anyone some experience with using CoolDing?

Can this control any IR device or is this for airconditioning units only?

And what about integration with HomeSeer?
