Can I extend an existing wisselschakeling with an AWMR-230?

Post by emklap »

Hi,

I want to extend and existing wisselschakeling/hotelschakeling with an additional remote controlled switch.

I am thinking of using an AWMR-230 in combination with a WST-8800 switch in the following manner.

With this configuration, can anyone tell me if I can do the following

Preconditions: Light is turned off.
1) Turn the light ON using switch A
2) Then turn the light OFF using the WST-8800
3) Turn the light back ON using switch B
4) and turn the light back OFF using switch A

Is this possible?

Think its possible but probably u need to put the AWMR-230 on the fase and the wire that goes directly to the light.
This cause AWMR-230 has only 2 wires that u can connect, but normally it does still respond on the normal switch, only now u will have 2 switches.

Maybe this could solve youre situation it did for me:
Puls switches to turn the light on/off
Puls switches to turn the light on/off

The Xanura SAIX12 will accept switched and puls signals to change it's state. With only 1 switching wire you can switch at many different locations.
You might want to see oif a similar KAKU unit is available.

Thanks for all your responses.

I also looked at the SAIX12 but I could not find a X10 remote conreoler that I can screw ON to the wall (like the WST-8800)
I could connect the SAIX12 in the following manner if I had a remote control like the WST-8800.

Unfortunately there is no possiblilty to add the 3rd switch wired, and the ceiling is more than 4.5 high so also a remote switch in the ceiling is not an option.

Then its cheaper to just swap to all KAKU switches and 1 reciever.

KUKU switches dont fit into my GIRA wired electrical system.

I have not looked at the GIRA range of remote products', but they are mostly very expensive
The remote control type 2251 112 cost around 108 euro alone.
a switch costs 65 to 100 Euro

Based on the documentation of the AWMR-230 it is only possible to use that particular KaKu switch with a simple 9enkelvoudige) wall switch.
I think this has to do with the fact that the AWMR-230 uses only the Live and the Switch wires to connect to the specific terminals. (no neutral used). With a Hotelschakeling ths Live and Switch 'signals' vary between the wires depending on the state of each switch.

Interesting discussion... Question remains...

Has anyone been able to use a single KAKU AMWR-230 in a "hotel schakeling"?
- Don't want to use any X10 device

If this is absolutely not possible I'll use this scenario:
- AMWR-230 at the bottom of the stairs
- AWST-8800 (wall switch) at the top of the stairs (placing it on top of the removed 'normal' switch)

Cheers
