problem installing rfxcom on new machine

Post by nawikre »

Hello people,

i am having a anoing problem. I just installed a new motherboard (mini itx Asus AT5IONT-I) with windows xp pro sp3) installed hspro on it, then updated hspro and installed the rfxcom plugin. I use the 'old' rfxtransmitter and rfxreciever (with handshake cable between them)

I changed the comport of the transmitter from com 3 to com5 (because i have them labeled with comport. Reciever is com4, transmitter com5)
Start the rfxcomreciever program from the rfxcom cdrom. connect rfxreciever and ask for version number. All works good. he gives me a version 51. I go to homeseer and add this one to the rfxcom plugin.
Next step is testing/adding the rfxmitter. I start the rfxtransmitter program from the cdrom. Connect and select comport. BUT now yhe 'fun' starts when i connect i see a lot of 55555555555555555 in my screen and will not stop...the (yellow rfxtransmitter) screens (of the program) fills itself with 5555555 (or second time i tryd all with RRRRRRRRRR)
When i want to add it to homeseer he gives the error that it does not communicate good and des not recieve the correct ack.

i tryed to use different comports, but no succes....

i have run out of idea's.....i was hoping one of you could help me.

thanks.

Iwan

Did you ever touched the dont touch button ?

the toggle baudrate.. ?
Could be you forgot to set the baudrate correct for the port.

i checked and the baudrate should be 4800, so i manually set the baudrate on the comports to 4800 and it works......not restarted it, will checkit again and try to add it to the plugin page in hspro...

wil post the result....but for now....thanks for the solution R_255

lol, well i always blaim it to the don't push this button text label... some how it just seems to be irresistible for domoticans :D

if you can't set the parameter in hs pro then i do recall there was a setting in some .ini file that would allow you to do so...

wel it doesnt work as i hoped.

i restarted the system and the problem is the same....i see only 5A running around the screen. BUT when i start rfxreciever and rfxtransmitter at the same time...and i connect the reciever first (leave it connected) then start the transmitter, it does give the right commands etc. But when i start HS and want to configure the rfx plugin. the comport is gone....i cannot select the comport anymore.
When i restart the computer again, i cannot select a comport in rfxreciever and so on.....

every time i restart the computer 1 comport is just gone (randomly)

i changed the comport of the transmitter (again) now to comport 3 (that was default at installation)

deinstalled the comport of the transmitter....restarted the computer, pluged it in, installed ftdi driver (automaticly) run the rfxtransmitter again, and it worked.

configured the plugin in hspro and it works now...

so topic can be closed...problem solved.
thanks

in rfxtransmitter it works. i close the connection and start hs. i configured the transmitter, but now he gives this error.

(reconnect) error transmitter #1 stopped due to comm failure, try to reconnect.

any idea?

problem solved by a new install and using older FTDI drivers, not the ones from 2012. Everything works good now...
