its not like there aint enough screens out there though.. http://www.touchcomputer.com/ (for example) just do google on "touch computer" and you will find enough.

I think the best thing is either a good touchscreen or a touchscreen which can run windows xp on something like 1ghz with 1gb memory. (this mainly so that homeseer touch client works really smooth)

screens aplenty - agreed. It is the solution that differs. In-wall heat-disapation vs PC-like performance. Right mix of buttons, spkrs, installation accessories and style (forget panel PCs), and design. What would you want in your home - or perhaps better phrased as what would she accept. Plenty of cars our there too, but few that meet your discerning eye.

correct, i have the option to have a touchscreen with a seperate pc for the living room at some point, still looking for that one screen that does it all (mainly heat/size is the issue) 12 inch seems about right which also makes it harder to come by.. i have a 12 inch laying around here, but the 800x600 should have been 1024 so again another issue

i have to look further but its on my to-do list.

When you say other forums seem to be pleased with the price/functionality, you should not have a problem mentioning a indicative price here, as we are used to on this forum, mostly one of the members does the PM to get the info and posts it right back here.
I fail to see the need for the extra step. [8D]

I am fine with the request - but note limitations as we do also support the pro installer markets of which some of you will be.

Protege 8 is USD$990. Limit 2 per person and NOT for resale. Inclusive of steel bbox and power. Freight extra.

8" is the sweetspot in the market from 8 yrs of providing in-wall smartscreens. 4" in oven and far less - but so is screen size.

But out all that we have looked at yours by far looks the best.

My issue would be , that the albatron we had last time for instance, although it does it work its not as fast as a normal pc.

Not sure I understand the issue re: albratron. Typically these do run VERY fast. Given that we started with a 200Mhz in 2001, the chipsets and graphics co-processing has improved as has the embedded OS selection. Secondly, they are not PCs and that is kind of the point. No spinning media, fans and far less heat and power consumption. It is in-wall after all and thus heat dissapation is paramount - as is design and user experience.

I am sure they can run XP but will need more memory (there is an IDE connection) and money for the OS.
