Best Touchscreen technique for my Home Control

I would start off at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Touchscreen and then use the search button, there are tons of items about touchscreen with certain functions. All depends also what you want. Do you want a screen which can also run stuff? (embedded) or does it only needs to be a touchscreen. Or do you want to build it into the wall, or is it ok if it sticks out a bit?

Yes, i already read wiki. But maybe somebody could tell me what is the best technic to use for a HC.
I don't know if i want it to be build in, or just a screen, or with pc incl. Its just the technic of the screen.
its ok if it sticks out (a little) when i am going to make the choice to build it in.
