Re: acer 23" touchscreen

Recently installed this display in my livingroom, with mixed feelings so far.
First off, I didn't realize that it is a gloss coated screen, and I need to get used to that (it does have bright vivid color because of said coating). Placement in direct sunlight can be cumbersome.
The CCFL dimmer makes a whining noise when dimmed to 95% and and lower. This is something personal, not everyone seems to notice it that much, but for the screen to be silent the brightness needs to be eyewatering bright.
The screen itself is set fairly deep in the display rim, which in my opinion is not really a design winner. The display control buttons feel flimsy and cheap.
I've had some trouble calibrating the screen, but this could be USB cable related (I use a repeater cable to cover 8 meters). The display has definetly no love for S3 powersave state in conjunction with a gigabyte board, and needs recalibrating after wakeup. This could ofcourse be OS related (Win 7).
About the software: This screen is marketed for Win 7 but the eDsiplay remote setting software isn't compatible with that OS (at least not with me setup, using T230H+Panasonic Plasma on a 9600GT and a eizo s1721 on a onboard 9400)
Multitouch gestures (especially the two finger zoom) do not always work that well, but this could be my shortcomingsm

But on the other hand: It's a cheap multitouch capacitive touchscreen (way better then recent displays that use IR for scanning the screen). HStouch looks fantastic on it, and since you normally use bigger buttons with HS you experience not as much problems with poor calibration. It's fast, so movies look good on it. It does work well once calibrated, and can be used with your finger as well with a stylus (not included).
