question about z-wave merten stuff

Post by I-1 »

Hi,
I am currently in the phase of ordering some z-wave Merten stuff.
But I don't know where to start.
The only thing I want to do with Merten stuff is:
- turn lights on/off
- dim lights

Now I am a little bit lost here at this stage ... and I believe I am missing a small piece of knowledge to connect things together.

Ive seen the following products on the website www.ezhome.nl:

- Merten 576799 - Elektronic-Inbouwschakelaar
- Merten 576897 - Relais Inbouwschakelaar
- Merten 507001 - Z-Wave ontvanger Inbouwschakelaar 1-voudig
- Merten 577099 - Inbouwdimmer 2-draads
- Merten 507900 - Z-Wave Ontvanger inbouwdimmer 1-voudig
- Merten 504644 - Z-Wave sensor-bedieningsvlak CONNECT
- Merten 503644 - Z-Wave sensor-bedieningsvlak voor Dimmer basis

I am trying to figure out what I actually need here ...

If I use the:
- Merten 576799 - Elektronic-Inbouwschakelaar
OR
- Merten 576897 - Relais Inbouwschakelaar
OR
- Merten 577099 - Inbouwdimmer 2-draads

I can not turn devices on/off with a button am I correct?
I would need the following devices for that am I correct?
- Merten 504644 - Z-Wave sensor-bedieningsvlak CONNECT
OR
- Merten 503644 - Z-Wave sensor-bedieningsvlak voor Dimmer basis

And where do I use the following devices for?
- Merten 507001 - Z-Wave ontvanger Inbouwschakelaar 1-voudig
- Merten 507900 - Z-Wave Ontvanger inbouwdimmer 1-voudig

Are these devices used in combination with the light switches that are currently installed?

Thanks for the answers ...

question about z-wave merten stuff

Hi I-1

The Merten 576799 (base unit) needs the 503444 (z-wave unit) = Popp 761 248
The Merten 576897 (base unit) needs the 503444 (z-wave unit) = Popp 761 248
The Merten 577099 (base unit) needs the 503644 (z-wave unit) = Popp 761 255

If you want to use your existing electronic equipment, you can place the 507001 behind your in-wall switch. This way you can control it locally and over z-wave.
But take notice of the size, it's about 50/60mm deep in combination with your switch, most in-wall boxes can't handle this.

Same goes for the 507900, but this one is a dimmer and is even deeper.

question about z-wave merten stuff

Post by Mversluis »

Hi Ezhome , I have a simulair question about this.

The current situation would be :
1 switch in hall way , 1 switch in other side of the hall way.("hotelschakeling")

Would it be possible to mount 1 507001 behind one switch. So we can use the normal way to switching lights of and even use z-wave toghether ...?

Thanks
Regards,
Marco

Hi ezhome,

So what you are atually telling me is that Merten is selling 576799 (base unit) needs the 503444 (z-wave unit) and this is the same as the Popp Z-Wave Inbouw Schakelaar INTERACT?
and the The Merten 576897 (base unit) needs the 503444 (z-wave unit) is also the same as the Popp Z-Wave Inbouw Schakelaar INTERACT?
and ofcourse the last one the The Merten 577099 (base unit) needs the 503644 (z-wave unit) is the same as the Popp Z-Wave Inbouw Dimmer INTERACT?

Well the Merten 507001 - Z-Wave ontvanger Inbouwschakelaar 1-voudig and the Merten 507900 - Z-Wave Ontvanger inbouwdimmer 1-voudig are clear now.
I can try to fit them behind the actual wall switch or try to place them under the lamp unit if there is room for it and I can just use the normal on/off/dimming funtionality with the current switches AND I can use the Z-WAVE technologie in combination with the Aeon Labs Z-Stick and Homeseer.

I also want to know the answer of the question that Marco just asked about the hotelschakeling ... I have:
- 1 x hotelschakeling that has 2 switches (upstairs & downstairs)
- 1 x hotelschakeling that has 3 switches (begin hallway, end of the hallway & upstairs)

Thanks,

That is all correct, Merten is not the most popular brand in z-wave because of it's price.
With Popp you are more flexible and the pricing is half of Merten but ok for every product there is a market.

Hotelschakeling is really easy to be made in z-wave.

If you use a Popp 761 248 which is wired to your light, you will have to add a secondary controller like the Popp 761 231 Impulsdrukker, if you need 3 points just add another Popp 761 231 at the place you wanna control it.

But if Homeseer is your primary controller (with a Aeon-Labs/ControlThink/Z-troller) for this moment devices like the Popp 761 231 are not supported in Homeseer.
Last Friday we have been testing and Homeseer just doesn't recognize the impulsdrukkers.
I've contacted the engineers from Reits and Homeseer to figure out what's the reason for this, no update jet.

Hi Ezhome,

Maby a stupid question , but would it be possible to have the orginel switches ( hoteschakeling ) with the 507001
Or can it only be done by removing all "hotelschakeling schakelaars" and replacing it by Popp 761 248 and /or Popp 761 231 Impulsdrukker

Thanks
Best regards,

A combination of the Merten 507001 behind your current switch with a for example one or two Popp 761 231 is also possible to enable a "Hotelschakeling".

Oke that would be great.

Just planning to order vera box ( even you have discused it with Enver for me [:)] ) , the day before you arived I have showed enver some LED strips for his white closet [:D]

When 1 put a door control sensor on 1 of the doors , build the 507001
into the wall.

Would it be possible to generate a event ( trigger ) by vera , by opening the door , set lights on ..?
