Aeon Labs Multi Sensor information / availability

Post by Niels »

Does anyone has some more information about this product?

http://www.aeon-labs.com/site/products/view/7/

I'm searching, but the little information there is, seems to be forumposts about the lack of availability...

Too bad...
The possibility to mount it faced down at the ceiling creating 360 degree detection, is for me the biggest advantage over the hsm100.

I have 4 of the multisensors installed since a month or two. Homeseer see the Zwave devices but the support for this sensor is not good. One sensor is being updated a few times a day which is about 1 meter from the Z-stick. The others are a bit further but have range and therefore update problems, homeseer can't handle them. Once I manually update with the sensor homeseer receives the data from those sensors but not automaticly. Only the one within 1 meter of the Z-stick. Also the movement is not reported directly to Homeseer.

It is just with the Home Energy Meter of Aeon-labs, first it worked not good with Homeseer but after the right update it worked great.

I know the Aeon-Labs is working with Homeseer to get homeseer supporting it but when that is done I don't know.

We will just have to wait that Homeseer supports it and that they come availible for everyone.

How to do compare to the HSM100? Because the sensor reporting of the HSM100 is really crap (with the default 20 min interval andso) ... The SP103 works much better in that sense.
DomotiGa / Z-Wave / RFXCom / Visonic PowerMaster / Home Assistant / Zigbee2MQTT / DSMR Reader / Toon1 (rooted)

Alex,

The sensor is capable of configuring the wakeup time.
The minimum Wake Up interval time is 4 minutes (240 seconds) rounded up. Thus if the interval time is set to 1
minute, then Wake Up Notifications will be send every 4 minutes. Likewise if the interval time is set to 7 minutes,
Wake Up Notifications will be send at 8 minute intervals. Default is 0.
As far as I know the HSM100 is also capable of configuring the wake up time. The main difference with the HSM100 is the price and some features.

The Aeon Labs Multi-Sensor is somewhere around 70 euro's. The HSM100 is around 90/100.
The Aeon Labs Multi-Sensor also has a humidity sensor, outdoor housing, possibility to power through USB connection (so wall outlet).
And it probably is better ceiling mountable. The HSM100 doesn't even have a decent mounting option (like a plastic wrist, turning it towards the area you want to monitor).

I just ordered, so hopefully the device will be as great as the looks and specs by the time I have it :-)
More News coming!!

Greetings,

Gijs

Did you order the US version? I assume that's not working with the EU aeon stick?

No, the EU version. See domadoo.fr. They also have some pictures of their new Aeon labs stuff:

Hi guys! I received the multi sensor today. Just had a quick look and made some pictures.
Will be integrating it this weekend. Then I will be able to share some technical details for those creating their own driver (sounds like a mad idea ;-).

Why would I need to upgrade (I'm on 1.17) ? I got it working perfectly (but maybe some other software doesn't).
You can configure it to send the values every X seconds. I now have it powered through USB and let it send the values every 60 seconds.

Really nice sensor so far! Will be mounting it this evening to get a grip on the motion sensor qualities.
