Why do you need a SDK ("bible") when you have all the code?
A bible ("SDK") can give a lot of information. But having access to the code is even better - you can create your own bible
I guess that in general, CS comes with better "bibles" than OS.

open-zwave library is not very stable/mature yet -or let me put it differently- the manufacturers of z-wave devices all do things differently, so it's difficult to support the whole variety out there.
You can of course buy the official SDK and create your own closed source software ;-)

Or try your google skills to find the code belonging to their pc controller app.
