Reinstall a z-stick

Post by Wim2008 »

I have to take a last step to make my new installation of HS2pro on a W7 machine complete. Till now I was using a XP machine. The z-stick was working well on the XP machine.
I have to install the z-stick. It is a v1 stick.
I did the next steps:
- Installed a new HS2pro
- I put in the Z stick
- installed the Aeonlabs software CP210x_VCP_Win7.exe; this was succesfully done
- no extra com port is connect on 'apparaten beheer' of W7 as said in the document of HS (see attache)
- start up HS2pro
- No com port is connected in HS2pro

What did I forget?

Hi Wim,

you need the comport to be available in device manager (apparaten beheer). Otherwise HS2 will not find it.

Few hints/options:
Windows 7 is available in 32bit and 64 bit. Did you install the driver for the correct bit-version?
Can you unplug the stick and plug it in another usb port? (sometimes helps)
Do you see the stick as an unknown device in the device manager? (then driver issue)
Can you see the stick on your old pc? (the we know the stick isn't defective)

regards,
Harry

I use W7 home 32bits now.
I will plugin the stick this evening in another usb port. I haven't try that.
In the device manager of W7 I didn't see the stick as an unknown device, but I will try first another usb port.
On the old XP machine I saw the stick with the software driver as a usb device with port 4.

Try it in a USB port on the back first. These are connected directly to the mainbord.

I did used the wrong driver for the z-stick.
Here is the driver I used now and this one is working fine for W7 home and Aeon Z-stick v1.
See: http://store.homeseer.com/store/Aeon-La ... -P747.aspx

Do you know if I can use the data in W7 and HS2pro from the z-stick as I used it in XP with HS2pro?
Will all data read in without changing the the data on the z-stick?

Yes, you can import devices again and it should create the devices.

You can indeed import the information on the stick using HomeSeer (and also other software like OpenHAB/Domotiga)

Note: It is very cheap to upgrade to HS3PRO these days (arround 60 euro)

Running HS3PRO on PC with Z-Wave / OpenTherm / Plugwise / RFXcom / MQTT / XAP400 / Logitech Media Server and Squeezelite on PI`s

Yes it's cheap but have you seen that the amount of zwave problems is still very high?

Not only seen but also noticed but someday it should be fixed, are u testing it and if so are u using beta z-wave ?

It works fine in de new HS2. No changes made. All nodes could be imported from z-stick.

@ raymonvdm:
I use z-wave with the z-stick as a secondair controller.

Primairy controller is the Merten usb-stick.
I like to change that, but till now I don't know how to controll the 2-gang battery devices of Merten in HS2.

I have a very stable HS2 system including Z-Wave and it's up and running without maintainance. So no reason to seek loads of extra work, fustration and a huge drop in WAF any soon

HS2 is also running very well with z-wave here. I use the z-stick as secondairy controller and the Merten (Schneider electric) usb-stick as primairy controller.
The last 5 years with Windows Xp and now since a few days with Windows 7 home.
No problems at all with z-wave and HS2.
