MAX232 converterts the RS232 signal to 5v levels. Very common interface.

Wouldn't it be possbile to access the system using a modem and phoneline? It shows this in the manual and in the software.

RFXCOM Serial module also has MAX232. Let's see if that will fit into the Visonic [:o)]

I think the Visonic rs232 print is not worth the money, it's only for programming the panel and once you programmed it, it probably takes ages when you use it again :-)

You can rent mine for 10 euro/day ;-)

One thing you are able to do only via the software configuration, at least I think so, is to replace the 5 generic zone names to more meaning full names.

Now is my question is the rs232 module with the software easier to config the system? because than I can order so module or maybe somebody living close to me how have time and wants to help me ( tegen betaling uiteraard ) I living in the middel of Breda and Roosendaal.

Or maybe somebody have a easy quickguide for Visonic systems ??

you can download the software and try.
uploading to powermax is not possible without the interface.
It's not the most easy interface

I have the interface...looks not easy to self build
When installing the interface I saw also a PC interface direct on the Powermax pro..not sure what this is..

Hello,

Found this: http://www.homesecuritystore.com/ezstor ... uctID=1135

Only has one RJ-45 connector (unlike the one in the photos). Can anyone post some photos of the "one-plugged" interface?

And after I've assembled the RS-232 module, will add a bluetooth transmiter :-)

@marunga: This is for the PowerMax, the previous photo is the interface required for the Powermax Pro.

Concerning the wiring-diagram, have a look at the MAX-232 datasheet. Looking at pictures of the PCB the circuit-board is a very standard TTL <--> RS-232 convertor.

When blu-tooth was not mainstream, you had those adapter-cables for plugging your mobile-phone into your PC. If you have one of those you could use that.

Looking again at the PCB:
Image
1: +5V
2: RX from PowerMax to external
3+4: TX/DTR from external to Powermax

All signals TTL level

I could not find GND (picture too dark), but that can be found very easily using a multi-meter.
