Visonic NEXT K9-85 MCW or NEXT PIR MCW?

Post by Noel »

I'm about to order my Visonic PowerMAX Pro, and I will be needing some (PIR) sensors.

The one I'm looking at are the NEXT K9-85 MCW or NEXT PIR MCW.
The NEXT K9-85 MCW will not activate at small things like animals (as long as they are less tha 36 KG :-) )

I do not have any animals (exept the girlfriend, but thats an other story), so I guess I do not need the NEXT K9-85 MCW.

Is the NEXT K9-85 MCW less sensitive, or does it use somkind of other "filter" technique, and are there any other advantages/ disadvantages by using the NEXT PIR MCW instead of the NEXT K9-85 MCW?

The K9-85 has a screen for the lower part of the lens.
If you arrive late from the pub and crawl on floor to the bedroom the sensor will not see you.

I have the "cat friendly version" but if my 2.6 kg cat walks up the stairs it still triggers the alarm.
It is very sensitive and, like Bert says, seems to only block the sensor on the bottom part.

I also have the NEXT PIR MCW fitted in several rooms.

These sensors are very sensitive (as I found out 2 times when a little mouse decided to walk across the livingroom floor, thereby triggering the alarm. A mousetrap was the solution ...).

Do not forget to order the wired sensor to protect the closet where you will be mounting the PowerMax.
