Hi,

In the next weeks I will have to replace my washing machine... my first thought: "Which washing machine is IP enabled?"

And of course: does it have an API or some way to read/extract data from it?

(at some point I would like this data to be available in Homeseer for example)

Check out http://www.home-connect.com/de/en/. They support IFTTT, so if there are no other ways to get the data into HS, you could likely use it.

Why do they all thing using your phone as a controller (actually it's the user) is a smart idea. It isn't. It's about the biggest security hole you got in your system. Besides that I don't want to flip screens around. Even worse, i don't want to drag a smartphone around the house. The house should support me in my daily life and just say to me that the laundry is ready.
Think about how pointless it is to get a message on your smartphone telling that your laundry is ready while you are sitting in the chair of the dentist. "Sorry mate, but i have to go. I'll make a new appointment because my laundry is finished."

but agree, a lot is overkill and mostly looks nice on paper.
Still the wachine machine business is not very open
some have wifi, mainly samsung, but is dont see any info regarding an api.
miele has one, but needs a expensive controller and also not exactly the right one

The consumer world has yet to mass adopt IoT

I read that the Home Connect from Siemens supports IFTTT.. That would give me a way to get notifications out of the washer into other systems..

Does anyone have experience with this?
