Monitor SMA Inverter with ESP8266

My SMA Inverter has an interface for bluetooth or RS485 modules. Assuming it is ttl, what is the chance of connecting an ESP8266 for wifi access to the inverter?

I found a Sunny Boy UART (RS232) PiggyBack project description on an old blog.
