Bastiaan, what brand is the chip of your cat?
Andi tested on these two FDX-B types:

Schippers MICRO ID/12
Virbac BackHome BioTec

Mine is an CEVA id-tronic, so if I can find a cheap test flap I can test a third variant.

OK found it: 3x Virbac BackHome BioTec
I am still planning to get a 'spare one from the vet. Think it was 25 euro or so.

Update:

I got my pickit2 (http://www.ebay.com/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dl ... 0461709565)
Programmed the pic with version 0.90 from http://respekt-empire.de/CatFlap/trac. (I have a second petporte that did not work anymore, so I used this one)
and some lights where blinking :-) So I think the new firmware should work fine.
I have not tested the rs232 output yet, waiting for:
http://www.ebay.nl/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... OC:NL:1123

I don't want to bother my cats with my experiment so I ordered this from ebay:
http://www.ebay.es/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... AQ:ES:1123
I hope this rfid animal pet tag will work.

Who is going to make the Homeseer interface? :-)

Nice, let's hope it works with that chip.

At this moment I'm still looking for my cat, he's been missing since February 15th...
It makes my experimenting a bit pointless, but most of all: I miss him a lot!

Darwusch,

That's very sad to hear, I hope your cat returns to it's home.
He must return home! then he will get a very fancy cat flap!

Hi Darwusch,

don't loose hope. The cat of a friend of mine was lost too, it was found 8 weeks later on a nearby campsite, because the groundskeeper (who fed tha cat for the past 8 weeks) read an old newspaper with the picture of the cat in it. I hope your cat comes home soon!

Regards Andi

Guess who came in last night. He's back! After 3 weeks and 1 day.
He's skinny and has a voice that sounds like he's been screaming a lot. This afternoon I'll have him checked by the vet, to be safe.
Yay...!

Ok, back to topic :D

I'm glad he's back. Now he has to recover well, so he can test the new software of the flap. :)

By the way, i have released version 0.95. News are a day mode (virtually the opposite of the night mode) and the possibility to change the mode via the serial interface. For example to switch the flap to the vet mode from work.

I'm working on a Homeseer plugin for the catflap. It's almost done.....
have to do some code cleanup and testing.
With this plugin it is possible to monitor your cats in Homeseer :-) trigger events and set mode.

If anyone is interested, I can upload it to this message board when it's finished.
