Strange Oregon THGR238

Post by Digit »

I get strange readings from my outside Temperature sensor...
Both Temperature and Humidity.
What is this ??? Is it broken, or what? Never seen this before.

I guess your sensor is broken.
I have a simular problem with a WTGR800 temperature sensor. With a temperature below 20 degrees this sensor displays a high to very high temperature. The first time the sensor indicates a temperature of about 30 degrees while the outside temperature was about 10. My first thought was that a spider was on the temperature sensor but this is certainly not the case with a temperature indication of 57.5 ;-)

Thanks Bert,
So I'm not the only one seeing this strange behavior.
Looks like I'll have to replace this sensor with something else...

Me selling stuff won't result in a new Temp/Humidity sensor for myself..

Wrong. This is what happened when I replaced the sensor with another one (October 16, after 12:00, see the temperature drop).
Now this one is broken too??? I don't believe that.
There has to be another cause.... but what?

This is the 2nd Oregon THGR238N "All weather" that fails in a very short period...
The LCD display shows the right values.
I will place the 2nd one at a different outside location and see what happens.
