Light control

Post by jonnyhk »

Happy New Year to all :)
Hello

I'm using HOmeseer and RfxCom for reading oregon sensors and using Visonic alarm.
Like to control light/ dimmer etc.
Bought a lot of X-10 from mar... to not very happy..

Like to have some robust with 2-way communication that I can use togeter Rfxcom ( I have two due to long distance)
minimum to be able to read the status if the light is on or of.

Thanks'

I think you should try some Z-Wave devices. The protocol is based on 2-way communication and HomeSeer seems to support the hardware. Im using an Aeon Labs Z-Stick interface and some Duwi switches

Running HS3PRO on PC with Z-Wave / OpenTherm / Plugwise / RFXcom / MQTT / XAP400 / Logitech Media Server and Squeezelite on PI`s

I'm using several KAKU devices (X10 like at 433MHz) with RFXCOM which work reasonably well, but these only have one-way communication. I have just started testing with Z-Wave, using the Aeon Labs stick, and with some Fibaro dimmers, which even support dimming LEDs lamps. So far that seems to work fine.
