[SOLVED] IPPower 9212 Delux switches 1x and hangs after that

Post by harmen »

Hi,

I am trying to get a secondhand ip9212 to switch something but sofar without succes. I tried it with firmware versions 1.12 and 1.13. I can switch 1x through the webinterface or http command but after that it just hangs, is no longer connected to my network and I need to power off/reboot to get it responding again.

Has anyone experienced this problem and solved it maybe? I have requested the latest firmware from Aviosys but they have not responded yet. Does any of you guys have a more recent firmware version for me? Any help is appreciated much.

Thanks in advance.

Sounds like it is broken. I never experienced this type of behaviour.

Don't think it is the firmware either.
Got one here switching many times a day and never missed a beat. Think it is even still on v 1.12.
IS your powersource the original one? It almost sounds like that the moment you switch, the whole circuit gets a dip and distorts the main system.
May be check the main voltage to see what happens during switching?
Does it happen with every channnel?
Lots of people also 'modified' theirs to have the channels allways off, but that counts for only half the ports.

Thanks for replying. I checked every channel, all have the same problem. And it is not modified, I checked that too. I will check the power supply and will try to check the main voltage. Don't know exactly how to do that though... Could you elaborate a bit on that? I am more a software guy and pretty new to electronics.

yes, thats why I didn't mention a scoop :-)
But I am sure you must have a volt meter / universal meter somewhere? Just measure the power over the plug or on the board (might need to take the cap off)
Put it in DC setting, usually marked with =
Then see if you see voltage drops but it is a very rough way. Swap poweradapter (with same voltage) is another option you could try.
Since the system comes with extension boxes, did you take them all off and tried switching without? See if your network/webinterface remains ok.
At least you can check in steps by adding one, changing to other one and then both.

I have not had the chance to do some measurements yet but according to omnima.co.uk/store/catalog/Aviosys-IP-P ... 16148.html the original power adapter has specs (100-240V, 47/63Hz, 0.5A, 5V, 1A), is that right? My adapter has different specs (230V, 50Hz, 50mA, 6V, 500mA, 3VA). Could this be the cause of my problem?

"Meten is weten".

It does not sound healthy to put 6v on a 5volt device and it only delivers half the amount of power. Might be worth to find a good 5v one anyway. They are fairly standard.

Eureka! I found another adapter (5V 2A) and all works.
