I bought a htpc remote last week: forum.team-mediaportal.com/threads/shap ... ign.79621/
The remote communicates with an Ir-receiver, which is connected to the pc via a USB-miniUSB cable. It should work plug-and-play.
But when I connected the receiver to a pc, it isn't recognized at all, not even a notification that a device has plugged in the USB port. I tested it with different pc's and under Windows/Ubuntu. The cable and the remote itself also work (though I can't test the remote, it sends a IR signal and responds).
So I opened up the receiver, but from a first look everything is fine. Soldering is ok.
Here is a picture:
So I would like to know:
- if anyone has an idea to fix this thing?
- If not, where can I buy an Ir-receiver that should work with this remote?
ir-receiver
Re: ir-receiver
Don't know what the problem is, but I am using a simple IR receiver-transmitter to operate my bluray player through the TV (no, don't ask ..)
http://iguanaworks.net/products/usb-ir-transceiver
cheap, and after ordering I received it within days.
Support: windows, linux. Using lirc it can be programmed to send and receive command from ANY remote. Setting it up completely took about one evening.
