RS232 over Ethernet devices

Post by Post-IT »

I just found a Blackbox 300 Series Server laying around, it's a small RS232 over ethernet server with 8 async ports (RS232C/422/485A).
I have contacted Blackbox, and they will send me a copy of the software which contains setup software and RemoteCOM drivers for Windows.
I'm not sure if I'll use this one for my Domotica system yet. I have 4 com ports available, and no need to extend it too far away from the box. When I have the time for it, I'll try to configure it, and test it.
For those looking for these types of boxes, have a look around for the Blackbox LEF3xx series. More detail can be found in the manual:

Sorry to bump this topic, but is there any recent info on this?
Cheapest I could find is: http://cgi.ebay.nl/TCP-IP-to-RS232-Ethe ... 843wt_1139
But I would like a more "non-soldering" solution :)
Any pointers to any cheap ones?

Little update for a other hobby project i have buy this RS232 converter -> link

because the low price, i have now for about a week running this converter without any problems.
It only difficult to find some info about this converter (you get only the converter nothing else) so here some info that can be useful:

Password of the device = 88888
default ip adres from factory = 192.168.0.178

required software
