How to monitor current AC Voltage?

Post by alex123 »

Hello to everybody,
I've been here for a long time but just reading and that's my first post.

I'm searching for a way to monitor the current AC voltage of my house and record the data to my server. Everything is in the pre stage as I'm currently working on my home server so any tips how I can do it will be gladly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Alex

The CM180 measures current an reports a calculated total power

up to 3 http://www.planete-domotique.com/pince- ... ndard.html
or up to 3 http://www.planete-domotique.com/pince- ... large.html

The Revolt NC-5462 can be used to measure the line voltage.
Problem with this sensor is that it transmits about every 4 seconds and a high risk that other sensor signals at 433.92MHz are disturbed.

A typical Solar inverter will also report grid Voltage, so if you have plans in that direction.....

@AKATAR...:
How did you manage to get the data in Homeseer?
And what UPS are you using?

I have a APC UPS, with a management card and graph the data with cacti

About the OWL solution, I already have a similar one from current cost but it reports the consumption in Watts not the Voltage.

I don't have any UPS in house.

For solar panels, I have that in mind but still just plans.

The you know enough since P = U x I => I = P / U
P in Watts
U in Volt and probally 220V

Yes, I know that but since the CurrentCost transmitter is set to 220Volts but here the Volts can varies it report not so accurate consumption. That is one of the reason why I would like to get the voltage value and the other reason is to argue with the electricity company.

For this case you can probably use the Revolt NC5462

I wanted to write to watch out for newer SmartUPS UPS's, but it seems that apcupsd now has MODBUS support!
http://apcupsd.cvs.sourceforge.net/view ... se-3_14_11

As such, you'll likely be able to use that quite well now to get data out.

(maybe my nasty mails did help in convincing APC to release the protocol details :)
