Hi,

I currently have an ON/OFF thermostat that controls a Logamax Buderus GB112. This is working fine for the last 10 years.
I also have an opentherm gateway. I don't have an opentherm thermostat.
I also have a Wago PLC.

I want to use the Wago PLC together with a server running Linux to control the temperature of my house.
I can connect the opentherm gateway with a serial cable to a linux server.

I have some options with this setup:
- put the opentherm gateway between the ON/OFF thermostat and the Logomax: not possible to control the room temperature

- replace the ON/OFF thermostat with a relay connected to the Wago PLC (and of course a temperature sensor): possible to control the room temperature, but some logic in Wago is needed for a stable room temperature

- same as above, but with the opentherm gateway between the Wago PLC and the Logomax: extra benefit: monitoring and controlling the Logomax

- same as above, but replace the ON/OFF thermostat with a (new) opentherm thermostat: will an opentherm thermostat give a big difference compared to an ON/OFF thermostat regarding gas usage?
