Today the device is announched on serveral websites in the netherlands

and the specs seems nice.

Is there anyone who contacted the developers of the device to see if there also will be an "Unbranded" version ?

The structure of this TOON thermostat (known in the past as Quby) is based on an Internet link with a portal server . This portal system will provide all kind of services like downloading new firmware, exchange of messages, providing information on weather forecast (like buienradar) and traffic jam information. Also setting the required room-temperature remotely this portal system is needed.

The collected energy data (both E+G meters) will not be exported to the portal system, this TOON thermostat will not act as a "slimme meter" . The Eneco portal system will provide the thermostat with the actual energy pricing , historical energy consumption data and also the monthly charge of energy. In an early version of the Quby this type of user-data was entered manually.
So all the processing and presenting the energy usage (graphs, etc) will be handled inside the thermostat . In case the house is using more energy than covered by the monthly charge - the thermostat itself will trigger a warning message to the user and not the portal system.

Toon will be sold with a two year contract of Live updating , so the price is € 120 + € 84 = € 204 - still a good price for this kind of device. Running Toon will cost you € 10/year of energy.
After those two years you can stop the contract within one month. After stopping Live update you will have no link with the portal system - so no firmware updates, no weather / traffic jam information or remote setting of the thermostat temperature. Not clear if data logging, analysis and presentation will be possible because no update of historical data and energy prizing will happen.

Consider also that your energy meters may be replaced by slimme meter in the near future - likely the meterkast adapter is capable to handle P1 slimme meter. (a RJ11 adapter is visible) but it should be confirmed by Eneco.

Yes it would be nice to buy this device without being a customer of Eneco and operate it without a monthly charge and also the communication interface will be public ... so the apps world will be triggered and all kinds of applications/interfacing will be developed ... but if this will happen .???

3.50 euro a month also!
in the video its hanging nicely on the wall, you dont see the power adapter :)
all is done via portal (so very controlled)
as far as i can see energy report only on total (house) level, not individual devices

Nice to see weather and traffic, but almost everybody owns a smartphone or tablet now a days

Hello there,

I Got toon today,

I allready have a z-wave systeem Powered bij a vera2 device.

I tryed few times To pare vera with toon but nothing happens,
I didn't have time To try it out on switches, but i don't think it Will work. Maybe I can assign THE transmitters from toon with my Vera.
Also THE menu from toon for paring devices is not very mutch, and for now it Also looks of THE readings are wrong.

Tomorrow i Will try some other tricks,

Little update:

Yesterday there is comming out a new update (version 2.1.0) with a option to enable a webinterface (for 2 hours :-( ) to made some connection's with the Z-wave interface.
So it's going on the right way with this Eneco thermostaat.

(I'm not trying to made some connection to HS with this option)
to be continued........
