ISKRA ME162

Post by s8utt »

Hello, I've just had some solar panels fitted and now I need to monitor 3 seperate electrical usages

Import
Export
Generation

From this I can calculate what the house has used.

So I've got 3 Iskra ME162 meters installed. on each meter there are 2 pinouts, 60 and 61 I'm told they are pulse ouputs

The exact model number is ME162-D3A51-L11-M3K0

http://www.iskranet.co.uk/index.php?cat ... 2a92628fd7

"This meter also has the facility for a pulsed output for an energy management system or AMR The pulse output is via the Auxiliary terminals indicated as 60, 61 for terminal connection to BS5685"

Does anyone know what the pulse output will look like ?

I understand it will probably be a square wave, as per http://openenergymonitor.org/emon/node/79

but will it be a dc voltage, say 5v base, 6v peak or will it be a simple closing contact ?

Any suggestions are welcomed as I'm a bit lost

Cheers

Usualy it is an Open Collector output. In the manual/datasheet/mounting instructions, you should be able to find the allowed voltage range you can use, but consider 5V as safe.

ok not sure i understand :(

i connect a voltage to that pin ? it then changes the constant voltage into a pulse that you can read ?

there is also an optical port on your meter
You can use this with ir sensor also to count pulses and probably get the Text of the counters

yes there is an flashing LED, this is how I'm recording it at the moment

I suppose I'm being picky but I wanted to leave the led uncovered so I myself could see it flashing or not.

A quick look, I can tell if I'm generating / exporting or importing.

thats not what i mean, a flashing led is different
the IR port is the big opening with a diode in the middle
you cant see it flashing

I also have a ISKRA (different type) with such a IR port.
Wonder how you can interact with it without having a engineering password or pin or whatever needed to access the data.
If I can get readonly access to retreive the data found on te LCD screen I would be very happy.

Any idea how to do this?

Very interesting topic. Do you have any results reading out the ME162? I have the same meter and I am looking for a readout via IR as well...
