Reading the Kamstrup, type 162 NTA en 328 J NTA form Enexis

Post by Bwired »

Has anybody tried or has a schematic for a cable from Kamstrup RJ11 to RS232

I also tried an optical IR reader on the Kamstrup with the "/?!" command, but received nothing ?
Probably the command is not good, but i cant find any documentation on this?
The Ir sensors goes on IR input, the red arrow o the image.

And are you also receiving decimals like 123.45 kWh instead of 123 (rounded), like i still see on some of the images in this topic?
Im going to ask Enexis again to place the Kamstrup smart meter for elec and gas.

@Bwired
Currenly the meter readout i have only give 00123.000 on all 4 meters (so there always end on 000). The gas meter gives 3 numbers behind the comma but only updates once every hour (and skips them frequently). The current usage is accurate on 0.01 kWh. Thats all there is. I think they can still improve a lot. Not sure if they will do that.

My father is not around at the moment so i cant ask him about the cable. Remind me if i forget to ask him :D

Meters from Enexis is with a P1 port as far as i know, should be the same as the ones in the Enexis pilot.

So decimals are there? or....
Does anybody has RS232 already running on P1 port instead of USB
Is the IR port readable like on the ACE3000, this is much easier then P1

I just talked with my father about it. He was quite sure that there was no data on our IR port.
The decimals are listed in the P1 output but are always 000.

Are you sure, because opening up the IR port probably needs to be done with sending a command via the IR port. But could be not the case with kamstrup.
Not getting any decimals really sucks, i have the same now on my Ace3000.
Thanks for the info

any more who have the kamstrup running?

I have the Kamstrup running connected to a Mac using a USB to serial converter.
A small C program reads the data from the Kamstrup by simply raising RTS that is connected to the 'Request line' on the Kamstrup.

As the Kamstrup does not provide decimals it does not make sense to read the data every hour.

For now the setup is that every evening at 22:00 hours I read the data from my Kostal inverter to see how much energy is produced during that day.
the same script reads the Kamstrup and decodes the datagram. all the data is written into a CSV file for later use.

If anyone is interested in any details, drop me a line.

Yesterday a got a reply from the technical department of Enexis:
Voordat de nieuwe Kamstrup kan worden genomen moet de nieuwe release nog goedgekeurd worden. Na goedkeuring kan deze geproduceerd worden.

Onder voorbehoud zou ik dan ook rekening houden met een beschikbaarheidsdatum ultimo dit jaar. (en dan dient goed afgestemd te worden dat u de gewenste (nieuwe) meter krijgt die aan de criteria voldoet en niet een (oude) "voorraadmeter" krijgt).
In short, Enexis is testing a new Kamstrup meter which works according the B101 standard from energiened. This means that decimals are included in the readouts from the P1 port.
They expect to deliver them somewhere this year.

Why do you need decimals. The meter also shows the current usage, so you can always caculate the decimals yourself.

Did not know that, the current usage
But still not handy and you have to be very precise with polling
For me its for showing realtime on bwired.
