Agree, it's doable but when average usage is low it can take more than 3-5 hours before you can 'sync' on total usage again; in between it's an estimation.
I'm very happy with my 1 Wh pulse
Reading the Kamstrup, type 162 NTA en 328 J NTA form Enexis
Reading the Kamstrup, type 328 J NTA
Reading a Kamstrup 382 JxC on P1.
First install the FTDI driver.
Find the lastest drivers here: http://www.ftdichip.com/FTDrivers.htm
With 5 Volt cables from FTDI (TTL-232R-5V-WE)
3-wires from FTDI-cable: Red=Request, Black=GND, Yellow=Data=RXD
RJ11-port on the kWh-meter: pin2=Red=Request=+5Volt, pin3=black, pin5=Yellow=Data
You can test with a terminal emulator on your PC.
Terminal settings: 9k6, 7databits, Even par, stop=1, No handshaking, Line mode, CR+LF
Invert the RxD in the driver from the FT232R-chip.
Used the FT_PROG Utility, do NOT forget to Cycle port after programming .

Re: Reading the Kamstrup, type 162 NTA en 328 J NTA form Enexis
Hi all,
I am new to this forum, bumped into it looking for software for parsing P1-packets coming from a Kamstrup 382J-NTA meter (from Endinet, but it's the same machine anyway).
I access my meter over ethernet, so far I've built a small interface to connect the meter to my LAN. In case you are interested, you can find some explanation of my little project on zonstraal.forumup.be (in the wiki pages under data logging. The site is in Dutch, I'm afraid):
http://www.zonstraal.be/wiki/Dataloggin ... _meters%22
I was about to start writing the parser for the packets, when I found this forum thread. Is there anybody out there who has a neat parser for the OBIS-codes and the data corresponding to them, and is ready to share that code with others? Would save me some work. I tried looking for homeseer on this forum, it appears to be able to do what I want, but a search gives the common phpBB error "too common a search term" or something along this line.
grtz,
marcelr

Just got a message from Enexis.
Within a short period they also deliver the:
Iskra ME 382 (1-fase)
Iskra MT 383 (3-fase)
They are also capable of decimals.

Same here, I told them I would like to see decimals, and not have the Kamstrup. The Iskra is now also a standard meter.

Finally had some time to create the cable! (Thx Verkenner)!
Everything is working like it should, including decimals (3)

I have an ISKRA ME-161
I now need to find an optical probe and think i need this one http://www.optical-probe.de/Optical%20probes/op200.html. Did you order from optical probe, do you have it laying around unused ?

I'm not sure what the problem with those decimals is, I built a simple logger (in plain old K+R C) including a time integrator for the power and calculate the decimals for my Kamstrup, well technically, Endinet's. Readout with an FTDI interface, runs on a raspberry pi or on any other linux box, for that matter. The error margin is less than 0.5%, which is good enough for me.Same here, I told them I would like to see decimals, and not have the Kamstrup.

When you have a Kamstrup smartmeter without decimals (I've the 162 JxC) and your provider is Exexis, you can send an email for a firmware update request to "duurzaam punt produceren punt kv apestaart enexis punt nl". Every wednesday they send a 'batch' with firmware updates over the GPRS module to the people who requested an update.
