Who wants to test the Homeseer Powermax plugin?

Post by Rene »

Somewhere next week I will release the first beta of the Homeseer plugin for Visonic Powermax alarm panels. I am looking for approx. 2 users with a Powermax Pro, 2 users with a Powermax+ and 2 users with a Powermax Complete. If you are willing to participate sent me a PM with the following information:
  • The type of Powermax you have
The version of the Powermax firmware
    What sensors you are using
The version of Homeseer you are using
You must accept the plugin might not be stable, must be willing to test everything thinkable and report all findings. As a reward you will get a free license for the plugin which will be offered via the Homeseer site.

The features available in the current beta:
  • Arming Home/Arming Away/Disarming
    Bypassing/Activating individual zones
    Monitoring of the panel status
Monitoring of the status of the individual zones
Events triggered by panel status changes
Events triggered by zone status changes
Rene.

I'd love to help! I've virtualized my homeseer. So any unstability is not a real problem. I'll send you my details tomorrrow.

Rene,

You can put me on the 'reserve' list so to speak, in case you don't get enough response (although I think that's very unlikely).
It's better to have 24/7 testers than someone who starts up HS occasionally
But you can always ask me for help, if needed.
Does it have support for an Ethernet connection, cause I'll be using a Serial to Ethernet Server?

Rene,

Good initiative!

Nico, I saw your message, thought I responded but clearly not. Great that you can help me test the plugin. What you need is access to the Powermax via an RS232 connection. The plugin will imitate the Powerlink so you have to choose, either use the plugin or use the Powerlink, but the plugin will provide more functionality ;-) On the Powermax+ and Pro you have to buy a RS232 kit which can also be used to remoty configure the Powermax using a Windows application. I do not known how this is for the Powermax Complete. Maybe you can already make an RS232 connection to the panel without having to buy an RS232, although I see on the waakzaamwonen site there is a kit for sale (http://www.waakzaamwonen.com/powermax-c ... p-577.html). What I am doing on one of my Powermax Pro's (I own 2), is use the PC connector that is used to connect the Powerlink2 module as described in this post domoticaforum.eu/viewtopic.php?f=68&amp ... amp;t=7152.

So rene, to recap;

We only need the rs-232 interface cable? And is it correct a powerlink is not needed? and can not be used in combination with this setup?

Is it also possible to read pir and door contact sensors usung your plugin? Thanks for the great work. If the above info is correct i will migrate my current chinese alarm system ;) to a visionic system.

You need the RS232 connection module for the Visonic including the cable, or, better, use an USB-FTDI cable and connect it directly to the PC connector on the Visonic (see domoticaforum.eu/viewtopic.php?f=68&amp ... amp;t=7152). You do not need the Powerlink itself. You can monitor all sensors connected to the Visonic, including PIR's and window/door sensors. However, development on the plugin are stalled due to other priorities and the upcoming release of HS3.
