OTGW: Error 03

Post by StefCoene »

Hi,

I finally got my OTGW working :)

I only have an ON/OFF thermostat.

When I connect my boiler to the OTGW, I see these messages every second:
22:00:05.305594 Error 03
22:00:05.412562 Error 03
22:00:05.502083 Error 03
22:00:05.622564 Error 03
22:00:05.739956 Error 03
22:00:05.839758 Error 03
22:00:05.961795 Error 03
22:00:06.081682 Error 03

- OTC active: not active (0)
- CH2 enable: disabled (0)
- Summer/winter mode: winter (0)
- DHW blocking: unblocked (0)
When switching to monitor mode, the flow stops.
When sending commands like PR=B, the OTGW respons like expected:

22:07:26.574153 GW: 0

22:07:49.761065 Command: PR=B
22:07:49.791556 PR: B=21:33 12-02-2015
Is there anything I can try?

I'd try changing Vref... in another post I described something similar when Vref was either too low or too high...

I already tried that yesterday but that didn't helped.

For reference, the boiler is a Buderus logamax GB112.

It's a bit hard to tell from such a short log, but I assume that the gateway correctly detected that you have an ON/OFF thermostat. You should have seen a "Thermostat disconnected" message. It will then send an Opentherm message every second. The R00000000 message suggests that it does. There's just not an understandable response from the boiler.

Are you sure the Buderus logamax GB112 supports opentherm? The information I could find on-line doesn't give that impression. If you measure the voltage on the line from the boiler do you see an AC or DC voltage? Opentherm would be DC. If that's what you find you can also check the current when you short the leads. For opentherm that should be between 5 and 9 mA.

For the opentherm support, I also couldn't find out if my boiler is supported or not.
The only thing I found is that I can connect a 'Kamerthermostaat Logamatic iRT30'. I couldn't find out if this is an opentherm thermostat or not :-(

The voltage is 11,3 V DC. The short lead current is around 13mA.

I have a full otlog if someone is interested. I uploaded it to http://www.docum.org/temp/otlog-20150520.txt

I tried different Vref settings, but that didn't helped.

11.3V is too low for opentherm and 13mA is too high. Most likely the iRT30 speaks some proprietary protocol. I'm afraid the OTGW isn't going to be much use with that boiler. No amount of adjusting Vref can fix that.

Ok, I was already afraid of that :-(

If someone is interested in a soldered OTGW with USB or Serial interface, I have a spare one :-)

Hallo Stef,

Ben je nog in het bezit van de OTGW of heb je hem al weg gedaan.
Ik wil hem wel van je overnemen.

Did you found a solution for the error 3?

Since the OP was trying to use the gateway with non-opentherm equipment, it's not really surprising he got errors.
