Motionsensor for day/night switching

Post by Bastiaan »

Trying to get one of my Fibaro motion sensors to report the light levels on a regular interval to HS3.
Wake up time is set to 15 min. The report parameter (42) for light level set to 900. And still the reports ar not regular coming in and I am missing the day/night switching.
I have set all associations to HS3 too.

Anyone got this working properly?

Are there other good zwave alternatives? (Used a Kaku before via Rfxcom)

There are multiple settings you need to check, like if the lux only changes 50 per time, it wont trigger either. Thats a settings, besides the normal settings. I have not found the holy grail either thouhg, i just know that if i want that i would need to hook it up to power.

I am testing this one:

http://www.banggood.com/ESP8266-Gizwits ... 25662.html

You could set the interval time manualy in seconds.

dirty cheap ($2,50 bought mine on ebay ) and could spit out the ldr data in mqtt style on the espeasy firmware...
( friend of mine is using it now in hs3 and he is very enthusiastic about it, and was easy to integrate)
Only thing is that you need good wifi coverage.

And other nice thing is that you can add even more sensors and stuff.... and still be dirty cheap.
Yes i must admit that i am in love with espeasy ( www.esp8266.nu )

No that's true.... but there are not that many devices out there that will do that perfect.
The Fibaro tries to be as efficient as possible but does not work proper here either... unless i feed it batteries every month :D

But there is hope, as i am in really am impressed by the hue tap. that generates enough energy by a button press to get te signal out to the bridge.
I imagine the same thing could be possible for something like a ldr. As light could be transformed to a electronic pulse, unless there is no light at all... but then the status should be dark anyway ;o)

Thanks everyone. I am back to my 5 year old KaKu that still works fine and uses 1 penlight a year....

So far Z-wave has been disappointing but thats another thing. Motionsensor is only usable as motion sensor, the rest is a gimmick.
Wonder if the AEONlabs stuff has the same issue.

I have a fibaro motion sensor with a small script and a interval of 15 minutes. It works great.
Set al the other things of like colors and led etc. I use it outside my hose in a glaze pot
