Somehow it looks i just have to keep on buying RS232 -> Ethernet devices...

This week i bought a Sollae EZL-400S. Cost: EUR 195. I know, it looks like a lot of money but you get 4 serial ports for it.
Features:

- 10/100Base-T Ethernet, auto MDI/MDX
- Supports IEEE802.11b : PCMCIA Wireless LAN card interface
- RS232 x 4 (up to 115,200bps, DB9-M interface)
- Powerful security function : SSL3.0/TLS1.0, Password
- Supports EAP-MD5
- Supports communication with variety of TCP/UDP hosts(TCP Server/Client, UDP)
- Supports DHCP and PPPoE for xDSL and cable network
- Easy configuration utility via network for Windows OS (ezConfigMP)
- Virtual COM Port Redirector 'ezVSP' for Windows
- Firmware is upgradable through network

Just like the 2 Sollae EZL-200F's i have, this device works very good, no problems yet. You can assign a single IP address and a port for each RS232 port or assign a different IP address to each COM port.

Currently I'm using this device in my office for testing purposes with a new RS232 interface. However, eventually this device will be moved to where the fuse box is; i need 3 RS232 ports there in the near future, so this device is worth the money.

Nice device!
Handy to put all the rs232 devices in the Fusebox closet.
Question: How much power consumes it?

Right, that will be the final place where i'll put it, the fuse box.
Power consumption is very low; my mobile power monitor (Conrad Powermonitor Pro) is displaying 2.1 W with 1 RS232 device attached. Without any serial device attached it jitters between 2.0 and 2.1. Ofcourse this EZL-400S is powered by an energy efficient power supply :-)

i received this device yesterday and not so impressed by the Virtual Comport director. ezVSP has too run, but it cannot start as a service. Homeseer is running as a service so I guess I'm out of luck. Anyone has a smart solution for this ?

I don't use ezVSP, i try do everything without drivers as much as i can; so direct TCP/IP.

yeah, i figured, can't do that with homeseer. Guess this item needs returning. Very strange they didn't create a proper VCP voor this.

After some googling I found some commercial drivers to work with the EZL-400S and any other terminal server which accepts raw data. Here is the starting point. I'm currently testing Eltima & FabulaTech.(Eltima is more attractively priced) Sofar so good.

One other thing to keep in mind is that i had to reset the EZL-400S when i had a power failure in my office where my domotica server is running. The EZL-400S wasn't affected by this power failure, but after everything was up and running again in the office, it couldn't connect to the EZL-400S because the ports seemed to be still occupied. After power off of the EZL-400S everything worked fine again.
