This device has noting to do with domotica...but can be very nice for the geeks who want to show there activities on there page..
Mostly I use it when I'm jogging.
At home I can see my trip on google maps with the exact speed, distance, heartbeats, and the calories.
You can also use it for walking and biking.
very easy for finding your way back to your car in the forest
And yes...it can relay help you to reduce your kilos..before uploading..[:D]

When I'm out cycling I'm not so sure I want all my technology following me. I like my cycling computer (with cadence). I use that all the time. I also use the distance as the riders I lead get very upset when my rides turn into 200k's. [:D]
My friend wants me to get a GPS but I don't need a device to tell me I'm lost. That I already know! [:D]

still its fun to see on google maps how the route went, and what times you did. i can see gps having an added value in that. There is overkill maybe.. look at http://carpc.binkey.nl/live.php , from a friend of mine. You can see where he went, what speed.. etc etc.. (and he should put some password on it if he wants his privacy..)

Hey that's not too bad. Generally I just look at the bike computer and the time. I also use http://www.bikely.com. My routes: http://www.bikely.com/listpaths/by/ncherry. I really like the automap feature but there are times when I have to turn it off as it selects the wrong paths. One of my friends wonders how I can go without a Garmin 315 (?) bike computer/heart rate/gps. I don't want any gadgets messing with my ride enjoyment. I can pretty much tell exactly what's going on with my simple heart rate monitor and my cadence on the bike computer.

If you already have a mobile phone with an internal or Bluetooth GPS receiver, you could also use trackr! (http://www.trackr.eu). They allow you to show others your live position or show and share your saved tracks.
If you care about your privacy, you can hide your location and tracks or only show them to friends.

Didn't know that one, i used to work with similar websites, but it always comes down to the "you have to perform xx actions" on the phone before it works. While in most cases you just want it to do it all automaticly. Have not tested http://www.trackr.eu/ , maybe i'll try in the future.
