Looking good!

Got some more details? I've been planning on building a CNC also!

Is this fully self designed also, or based on one of the open hardware projects available on the internet?
What's the estimated costs of this project?
What's the max size you can CNC now?

Thanks!

After the Mantis workshop i decided that i wanted something more power full.

So i have been looking at multiple options, like importing from china, some german brands or even a roland and in the end i came along this add on marktplaats and i came in contact with Ali.
I did modify his standard build, with a double x-axis , longer z-axis and made some other modifications. I bought a steel frame with 10mm alu plates to make the portal. Had to tap threads and bolt everything together.

Told Ali what kind of hardware i would like to have, like 3 nema 34 ( 6.4nm) motors for the X and Y axis and one less powerfull for the z-axis ( does not as much torque )

Estimated price tag so far is arround 2800,- 3000,-.... but that could have been lower as i choose to go for rigid and power and have the machine as flexible for its use.
the build took me way longer than expected, but that was also a budget and time issue.

But if you have a dedicated purpose, it is easier to build a machine and cheaper.

From creative point i would like to have as much freedom as possible to use it....

The bed is 110 x 60 and the Z axis is 25cm

I shall post some pics when i am at home.... !

Now we are going to make a big jump, but most of the mounted parts are ordered at damencnc.nl and stappenmotor.nl
depending on their price/performance ratio and placed quite easy.

The electronics

3 x a power supply to drive the motors

2x48v 6.7 ampfor driving the big motors and 1x
1x30v for driving the nema 23 on the z-axis.

4 drivers, one for each motor ) black boxes
1 breakout board ( lpt )

The extra motor, driver, bearings, drive shaft makes the whole system more expensive, but that was my personal choice.
Here you see the machine in its almost finished state...
