Future BLE sensors without batteries

It is still early days, but I suspect in the future we will see Bluetooth-based (BLE) sensors showing up in home automation which no longer need any batteries. Based on energy-harvesting of surrounding indoor light.
Texas Instruments just published some reference designs for manufacters; 'Indoor Light Energy Harvesting Reference Design for Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) Beacon Subsystem'

Far too technical for me to attempt something myself so I will have to wait for some company somewhere to produce retail-ready products...
