Thx for the reminder! I have huge problems getting the roowifi to include on my wireless network since i use a Cisco Business wireless solution. On a normale wireless modem it's working great.
So, backed this one.. roowifi for sale.

Kicktraq claims currently a 92% funding: http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/thinki ... irobot-ro/

But with a count of 26 (I just missed being #25 it seems), that could just be the people who already knew about this project, and in that case, they really need to do a lot more advertising for this to go anywhere, as it is not unlikely that it might flatline after this otherwise.

I spammed Slashdot, thus do + it there if you want it on the frontpage:

If you have a Reddit account or similar stuff, do spam there too.

I've sent a rather large mail to TC with various comments, hopefully they address them before going final production as there are quite a few oddities and inconsistencies in there. They are looking into it, hence one great thing: they take community input.

Also currently they are trending[*] to 167% of the goal:
http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/thinki ... irobot-ro/

That looks much better than the 92% before. But still at only 46 backers, not a lot of different people yet. Needs more actual crowding to be a real crowdfunder... effectively they need another 450 people to chime in, thus that is another 10 times of the folks who already knew they wanted it.

* = and trends are far from reliable.

Lots of tiny things, but primarily inconsistencies in the API documentation, eg when to use GET or POST, not having example request/responses etc, use of camelcase or underscores in commands while spaces in others, using 0/1 for true/false/yes/no situations, typos. Why there is a 'success' and 'action' (likely to just fire off requests and use that as an 'answer'), that there are tc.thinkingsync.com URLs while the rest is directly towards the domain, also /api/v1/ while others do not have such a version, JSON inside schedule.xml (what is the point of XML then..); many many of these ;)

But also things like disabling bonjour (wifi has enough broadcast/multicast crap already), why homekit is only for 700/800 and not 500/600 (hardware was the same right?)

A very important one: why there is no HTTPS in there at all (especially for Internet crossing data), let alone a password. "Enter house, join wifi, control the roomba!" :) A mere security statement would already be a good start, next to what info is actually shipped, which should definitely not include details like wifi name or so... this is a scary thing actually, as one could control the roomba from the Internet this way, next to having a way into your home network...

And of course also the big comment what happens with this when in say 25 years the thinkingsync servers are gone. It is not like they are an old big company like an IBM that cannot die off... and even then even those companies kill off services.

PS: They are at 52 / 140% (see, dropping already from 169% earlier): http://www.kicktraq.com/projects/thinki ... irobot-ro/

Interesting Project, In the past i controlled my roomba with a bluetooth module, but range was crappy. I think this is a nice solution so i also backed this project :)
