opkg keeps getting killed. The errors I get are below.
Any ideas as to what could be the problem?

I haven't been active that much on the forum for the ~ last 10 months, so maybe it doesn't work anymore?
You do need to have the vpn connection working (think you can verify ifconfig tap0), for the upgrade to work.
Maybe you can find more info about the exit code in e.g. the man pages of opkg, or source code (it is probably also part of the OpenEmbedded toolchain) ?

Some people manually downloaded the packages and installed them using opkg themselves, see also:
here and the few next posts.
Or also here (and the next few posts).

Thanks. I hadn't thought about the man pages yet, will give that a try. I was already thinking along the way of updating the packages manually.
The VPN is working by the way.
The other option I have left is doing a factory reset and then rooting again. I just don't know whether that might cause more problems than it's worth.

Factory reset is not going to help you. It won't revert your toon to being non-rooted either.

The error messaging of opkg is a bit haphazard. Not sure if you can find a list of error codes and corresponding meanings.
Can you check the existence of /etc/opkg/base-feed.conf? I can imagine that opkg gets killed if it doesn't find the repodata ...

Somehow the id of my machine in the xml was saying neco-etc etc not Eneco-etc etc, four times. So I changed it to Eneco rebooted en there was all the apps
That's because they check the "Tenant" option in /qmf/etc/qmf_project.xml which could be "Eneco" or some other provider. (See /qmf/qml/config) Based on that value you get all the Apps or different ones..

Anyone knows what log files are in /mnt/data/qmf/log ?
There is like 6MB of files in there called 99_DEBUG.log.json and 10_CONNECTION.log.json and more.

I also see alot of connection errors since I rooted toon. Should I be worried that the logs wil grow too large?

Ooo okay total in your log file is 6mb, that is fine is the same what I have.
When you see some of these log files, they have a old date.

It works with the older libssl (0.9.8 from the top of my head). Will upload that .ipk to the forum ftp server, so you can grab it from there. Haven't had the time to complete recompilation yet (x11vnc is not the problem, but libssl is ...).

EDIT: you can pick it up here:

I've installed this file. Installed xvnc and it worked, changed the firewall...
Next I've updated /etc/inittab as described in the manual you wrote.
then I reboot Toon.. and find out I messed up the firewall... I've accidentially removed port 22 ffs! :(

Do I have to reconnect with the serial cable again to enable ssh again? or is there another trick?

-edit-
did it with the serial usb cable...

But I noticed that the vnc server started to boot up at port 5900, 5901, etc.
doens't really seem that it is supposed to function like that right?
